6.“I'm 15 and got caught with weed. Will I get a record?”

Not necessarily. For a first time, police often use a community resolution or diversion. A youth caution is recorded but not automatically shown on DBS checks. Ask for a free solicitor and an appropriate adult before agreeing to anything.

7.“Will police tell my parents?”

If you're under 18 and arrested or interviewed, police must try to get a parent, carer or other appropriate adult. If home isn't safe, tell the police, a teacher or Childline.

8.“An older guy asked me to hold a bag. What if I'm caught?”

Holding drugs for someone is possession and may be treated as intent to supply. Being asked to hold or move drugs is also a sign of exploitation, and victims are treated as victims. You can talk anonymously.

13.“I'm worried about how much I smoke but scared to tell anyone.”

Asking for help is a health matter, not a police matter. FRANK is confidential, and young people's drug services don't report you for asking. If you feel unsafe, contact Childline or Samaritans now.
